Fancy Dress ‘Cross – Updated 7.55pm

Updated: Saturday 20 Dec 2015 – 7.55pm

Latest news on the Charity Fancy Dress Cyclo-Cross event scheduled for tomorrow, Sunday 21 Dec.

We are still hopeful that we may yet be able to run this event as normal in the large field adjacent to the Heptonstall Bowls & Social Club. However, currently (Sat eve) the man who rents the field is not wanting the race to go ahead due to waterlogging. We’re talking to him and the landowner, so we may yet be able to get him onside.

However, if the answer is “no”, we have alternative plans that we hope will still give everybody a great time and enable the fund-raising raffle etc (all proceeds in aid of the Yorkshire Air Ambulance) to go ahead as planned. The alternative plans are as follows:

Under-12 Fancy Dress race will be held in the small local park next to the venue at 12.30.

At 1pm, instead of the over-12 race, we will run a non-competitive 30 minute fancy dress ride along local roads and bridleways. Please bring a spare tube and pump, just in case! Under-16 riders should be accompanied by a responsible adult. This is a beautiful area with some outstanding bridleways, so it should be an enjoyable and sociable alternative. The Under-12 riders and other who do not wish to take part in the ride will be entertained with games etc back in the safety and warmth of the  Heptonstall Bowls & Social Club.

We hope as many people as possible still come along to what is always a very sociable and enjoyable event which has raised many hundreds of pounds for charities and good causes.

We will update if we hear any more news – hopefully we will see you there!

The National Cyclo-Cross Championships come to Peel Park in Bradford 7-8 January 2017. We've launched a new website to help riders, spectators and sponsors alike including the all-important link to online entry. And following Shrewsbury's#dirtyweekend inspiration last January, we'll be using the helpful and informative hashtag #yorkshirelegover to help promote our event. The website is at http://www.cxchamps.co.uk
