Mission Statement

The Yorkshire Cyclo-cross Association ‘Youth Development Fund’, formerly the ‘Mike Scott Fund’, exists to support and develop youth Cyclo-cross participation within Yorkshire by funding training and development activities, and by supporting representation at inter-regional and national competitions.

Funding Charter & Principles

  • 1. Discipline Specificity
    • Funding is reserved for exclusively cyclo-cross endeavours. Disciplines other than cyclo-cross fall outside the scope of this fund.
  • 2. Eligibility
    • Riders supported by the Yorkshire Cyclo-cross Association (YCCA) Youth Development Fund(YDF) must be:
    • a) Eligible to participate in “youth” cyclo-cross categories, as defined in the current edition of the British Cycling handbook; and
    • b) Have a demonstrable connection to the Yorkshire cyclo-cross community through:
    • i) Permanent residence within the East riding of Yorkshire, North Yorkshire, South Yorkshire or West Yorkshire; and:
    • ii) Participation in at least half of YCCA staged events during the previous winter season.
  • 3. Priority
    • The YDF will prioritise activities that:
    • a) Benefit the greatest number of eligible riders, rather than individual financial assistance.
    • b) Enhance the development of youth cyclo-cross in Yorkshire.
    • c) Increase the representation of Yorkshire youth riders at Inter-regional and National cyclo-cross events.
    • d) Promote the visibility and growth of youth cyclo-cross in Yorkshire.
  • 4. Allocation
    • Funding may be used for collective youth cyclo-cross activities including, but not limited to:
    • a) Entry fees for regional, Inter-regional and National team competitions.
    • b) Official Yorkshire representative team jerseys/ clothing.
    • c) Venue hire, coaching provision and associated costs for organised structured training activities.
    • d) Other activities that further the objectives of the YDF.
  • 5. Final decision
    • All funding decisions are made at the discretion of a quorate committee of the YCCA, in accordance with this Charter and the best interests of youth cyclo-cross development within Yorkshire.
    • Funding decisions shall be made without favour or prejudice, taking in to account the merit, potential and behaviour of potential beneficiaries.
    • Any committee member with a personal or club-related interest in a funding decision shall declare that interest and, where appropriate, withdraw from the decision-making process.
    • The committee’s decision shall be final.
  • 6. Review of Charter
    • This Charter shall be reviewed periodically by the YCCA Committee and may be amended where necessary to ensure the Fund continues to meet its objectives and the furtherment of youth cyclo-cross in Yorkshire.
  • 7. Growth
    • The fund will be sustained through allocated YCCA profits, fundraising and charitable donations.
