TryCross
Our TryCross events are a chance for riders to get a taste for cross racing. All are welcome, from the age of 13+.
Between 9am and 9.25am TryCross competitors will be able to warm up on the course under the guidance of a coach, who will help with advice. At 10.05m TryCross competitors will be able to race on the shortened course that is used for our Under12/9 riders. The race length will be determined by the commassaires on the day. The fee is £5, with no day license required. Entries will be available via the links above. You can have a go at a TryCross event for as many events as you want. We really hope you enjoy the experience and look forward to you stepping up and taking on an age related race.
Jet Washers
Please be advised that Leeds Council have banned the use of petrol generators in all their parks during the summer months so we advise you to think carefully about situations where you may feel the need to jet wash bikes. Currently they are accepting diesel and electric powered generators. We believe they will phase out permission for all petrol generators by the 2027 winter series. We also believe that other councils will follow suit.
Parking Charges
You may have noticed that the majority of our events now have parking charges. We’d like to assure you that these fees are either requested directly by the venue, as many parks are now installing paid parking or are being used to offset the rising charges of the venues we are able to use. Please bring suitable means of payment.
Rider Etiquette
The great thing about our events is that you could line up at your race next to national or world champions. With fast racing on short circuits it is inevitable that you could be lapped by the lead riders. Now we understand that everyone has a part to play with good race etiquette. We would expect the lead rider to call ahead in plenty of time “Leaders, on the left/right” as most appropriate for the conditions. They are responsible to ensure they pass you when it is safe to do so. The rider being lapped we would expect you to give up the racing line to allow them to pass safely.
If you encounter an unsafe pass or other unsporting conduct please make a note of the offending rider’s number and inform a commisssaire on completion of your race. The YCCA does not tolerate unsporting conduct and if riders are found in breach of our riders etiquette, we will DQ said riders from an event. If a rider offends repeatedly then we reserve the right to ban that rider from further events. Remember, we are all racing. Its fun!
