Report: Tim Evans – last Wednesday saw another excellently organised Flood lit race by CRC Hull at the Costello stadium, again conditions started off very fast and dry but with the nights closing in, the dew and the slipper conditions arrived earlier and caused problems on the later races , a bit a careful course adjustment added a few more seconds to the races to make lap time a bit longer than the previous weeks.
In the under 12 race Again Ozzy Stringer from Richardsons CC led from the start with only Luke Quigley from CRC Hull on the same lap after a furious 6 laps. Numbers in the Youth Race were up and with no Ben Turner, Clifton CC’s Ben Wait led from start to finish followed by Fulford Cycles Will Turley in second followed by Clifton CC’s Cavan Walker who was third.
With the flood lights on from the start for the adults’ Race, with 61 riders the decision was taken to Grid the top riders from the previous race and Rapha’s Graham Briggs. Briggs led from the start followed by Nick Barnes for the first 2 laps until a slip on the wet grass meant he lost touch and finished in second. Third was Tom Ramsey from Crosstrax and 4th Batley CC’s Ben Cooper making 3 of the top 4 under 23 riders. 1st Vet was PH Mas David Shaw in 5th and 1st Lady was Clifton CC’s Fiona Beard.
Next race in the series is on Wednesday 8th October details on the website and it is well worth the trip down the M62, note for riders the results are currently draft so if you have any questions please drop an e-mail with as much details as you can about where you finished, also the organisers are aiming for you to use the same number for each race so if your details are wrong on the results sheet please can you advise so we can update as some of the names are very hard to read. Numbers this week were far better positioned but some were still to high.
